The Right Applicants

While we encourage internship applications from any qualified undergraduate or graduate student, most of our interns join us before their last year of university or graduate school. This internship doesn’t require financial expertise, only an innate intellectual curiosity and a willingness to jump in and get your brain in gear.

Applications

Most of our interns work in our New York City headquarters, but we also have some openings in London and Hong Kong. Interns receive housing support from the firm.

There are no deadlines to apply on our website, but it’s helpful to apply sooner rather than later. We typically complete our intern hiring by late winter or early spring.

The Work: Real Projects, Actual Results

As an intern, you’ll work with a team on complex projects that have direct impact on the firm’s business decisions.
Here are a few examples of past projects:

  • Evaluating the costs and benefits of opening an office in another country—the results of this work influenced the firm’s ultimate decision (Office of the COO role)
  • Analyzing social media data pertaining to public securities using Machine Learning and Natural Language Processing techniques (Quantitative Strategy role)
  • Researching, writing, and presenting a recommendation on an information security hardware company that led to an investment (Fundamental Strategy role)

The Lifestyle

We plan an active social calendar so you can get to know your colleagues and explore New York City over the summer. Previous events have included:

  • A block party on the High Line, a food truck and music festival along Pier 84, and a cocktail party on the Top of the Rock Observation Deck
  • Tours of museum exhibitions at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA), and the Whitney Museum of American Art
  • A night out to see Tony Award-winning Broadway shows like Hamilton and Dear Evan Hansen

We also host training sessions and speaker events with distinguished outside speakers on a range of topics. Some of our notable speakers have included:

  • Dr. Larry Summers, former Secretary of the Treasury and Director of the White House National Economic Council, discussing macroeconomic trends
  • Sir Angus Deaton, Princeton economist and recipient of the Nobel Prize in Economic Sciences, on "The Great Escape: Health, Wealth, and the Origins of Inequality"
  • Dr. Ellen Stofan, former chief scientist of NASA, on the future of space exploration and what it means for innovation on Earth.
