        Venture Studio – Portfolio
        New York

The D. E. Shaw group seeks a highly motivated, entrepreneurial controller to join Threadlock Precision, its newly launched private equity platform focused on acquiring and scaling precision manufacturing businesses. As an early member of the team, this position will play a foundational role in building the finance function to support a fast-growing network of profitable, industrial operating companies. This role offers the chance to work directly with the investment team and senior leadership across the portfolio, contributing to the development of innovative technology and best-in-class financial processes in a collaborative and inclusive working environment.

        What you’ll do day-to-day

        • Drive progress across private equity-backed manufacturing portfolio companies, reporting directly to the CEO and working closely with company management teams.
        • Shape Threadlock Precision’s proprietary technology platform, including the development of AI-driven tools to streamline fund operations and enhance portfolio management.
        • Implement and maintain standardized reporting processes across the portfolio to ensure consistency, transparency, and compliance.
        • Lead the annual budgeting and reforecasting process in collaboration with CFOs.
        • Oversee tax planning and structuring considerations for acquisitions and existing entities.
        • Support ERP and finance system rollouts or upgrades across portfolio companies to ensure standardization and scalability.
        • Monitor and report on financial performance, KPIs, and key metrics to senior leadership.

        Who we’re looking for

        • A bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance is required, and a CPA is highly preferred.
        • 8+ years of experience in accounting/finance roles, with at least 3 years in private equity-backed environments or multi-entity businesses.
        • Experience in manufacturing or industrial businesses, ideally in precision machining or similar sectors.
        • Deep understanding of private equity fund structures, capital accounting, and partnership agreements.
        • Thorough knowledge of U.S. GAAP, fund accounting principles, and financial reporting standards.
        • Proficiency in Excel and accounting systems; experience with fund administration platforms a plus.
        • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial, and collaborative environment.
        • The expected annual base salary for this position is $160,000 to $200,000 with equity to be discussed on offer. Threadlock Precision’s benefits package includes 401(k), health, vision, and dental coverage.
