Start-up Ventures: Marketing Manager at Wisable

        Venture Studio – Portfolio
        New York

Wisable, a tech-enabled business brokerage that spun out from D. E. Shaw’s venture studio, seeks a marketing manager to lead the company’s end-to-end marketing efforts. This role will be responsible for shaping Wisable’s go-to-market strategy, stewarding the brand, and driving demand through a mix of experimentation, performance marketing, and solid lifecycle execution. This is a highly visible role with broad ownership, operating as Wisable’s marketing lead in the near term and setting foundations that will scale as the company grows. This position is with Wisable, not the D. E. Shaw group. As a portfolio company of the D. E. Shaw group’s venture studio, DESCOvery, Wisable benefits from the firm’s industry expertise and network. Please note that Wisable will be reviewing all applications and making hiring decisions independently of the D. E. Shaw group.

        What you’ll do day-to-day

You’ll own Wisable’s marketing strategy and execution across channels, with a focus on driving awareness, engagement, and qualified demand from small business owners. Key responsibilities:

        • Design and execute an integrated marketing strategy spanning brand, growth, content, paid media, partnerships, and lifecycle marketing.
        • Manage external agencies across SEO, SEM, paid social, and other performance channels, while continuously testing and evaluating new channels to identify the highest-performing growth levers.
        • Own website and email messaging end-to-end, ensuring clarity of value proposition, consistent brand voice, and solid conversion performance.
        • Lead conversion rate optimization efforts across the website and funnel, including experimentation with landing pages, messaging, and calls to action.
        • Build and run email marketing and nurture programs that support lead conversion, education, and long-term engagement.
        • Partner with an external agency to reimagine and establish Wisable’s brand, and serve as the internal steward to ensure consistent execution across all touchpoints.
        • Create and oversee content across formats, including email, web, educational resources, social, and sales enablement materials.
        • Develop and execute live event and field marketing initiatives, such as conferences, sponsorships, or local events, to generate demand and build brand visibility.
        • Explore and manage additional media channels as appropriate, including offline or upper-funnel efforts such as billboards, print, or television.
        • Partner closely with a content lead to create and oversee content across formats, including email, web, educational resources, social, and sales enablement materials.
        • Manage the marketing budget and reporting on performance, insights, and next steps.

        Who we’re looking for

        • A bachelor’s degree and a solid academic and professional background.
        • Five or more years of marketing experience, with exposure to multiple channels and tactics across growth and brand.
        • Experience managing agencies across SEO, SEM, and paid social, with a data-driven approach to experimentation and optimization.
        • Demonstrated expertise in website messaging, conversion rate optimization, and email marketing or nurture programs.
        • A track record of building or scaling marketing programs in a startup or early-stage environment, including experience building a marketing function from scratch or operating as an early marketing hire.
        • Excellent writing and messaging skills, with the ability to clearly articulate value propositions across audiences.
        • Comfort collaborating cross-functionally with product, design, and sales teams.
        • Experience running live events or field marketing initiatives is highly desirable; exposure to broader media channels such as billboards, television, or other offline campaigns is a plus.
        • A proactive, organized, and ownership-oriented working style, with comfort operating in an environment where priorities evolve quickly.
        • The ideal candidate is a hands-on, entrepreneurial marketer who has built marketing programs from the ground up and is comfortable balancing strategy with execution.
        • The expected annual base salary for this position is $130,000 to $180,000.

The applicable annual base salary or hourly rate paid to a successful applicant will be determined based on multiple factors, including without limitation the nature and extent of prior experience and educational background.
