        Join our D-tech team in New York The D. E. Shaw group seeks talented software developers to join its D-tech team. This team applies mathematical techniques and writes software to develop, analyze, and implement statistical models for our computerized financial trading strategies across various asset classes. The team utilizes its creativity and innovation to create novel approaches to trade profitably in markets around the globe with a firm that offers a collaborative, engaging, and inclusive working environment.

        What you’ll do day-to-day

        You’ll leverage financial portfolio theory and multivariate models to analyze and attribute Profit and Loss (PnL) to different factors, examining the impact of interest rates, credit conditions, currency movements, and market. You’ll design and deploy robust, efficient, and scalable data pipelines to retrieve, process, and archive real-time and historical intraday market data across diverse securities to ensure data integrity and availability. You’ll utilize mathematical frameworks, including stochastic calculus, cash-flow models, Black-Scholes models, option-pricing theory, and Monte Carlo simulations to model the future behavior and fair present value of complex derivatives. You’ll develop and maintain a performant hedge simulation engine and conduct historical analyses to test and refine discretionary trading algorithms, minimizing trading costs and optimizing hedging strategies. You’ll innovate and validate discretionary trading ideas through financial models and quantitative analysis, collaborating with traders and analysts to uncover and capitalize on profitable opportunities across a wide array of asset classes. You’ll create automated, end-to-end processes to generate detailed reports on trading performance, risk metrics, and market conditions. You’ll develop technical documentation to communicate insights to stakeholders, including trading desks and business unit leaders. You’ll develop user-friendly web applications using frontend frameworks such as ReactJS. You’ll build and maintain backend services and APIs using Python and ensure integration with frontend applications. Participating in code reviews to uphold code quality and best practices, you’ll write unit and integration tests to ensure software reliability and performance. You’ll engage with internal stakeholders to gather and understand requirements. You’ll translate business needs into technical specifications to design and develop full-stack applications to meet stakeholder needs. You’ll work within a multidisciplinary team of engineers, product managers, and quality assurance, communicating progress, challenges, and solutions to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

        Who we’re looking for

        • A master’s degree in computer science, information, or a related field of study is required.
        • One year of experience with software development; troubleshooting and debugging; Python programming; data analysis; Linux System; C++ programming; computer algorithms; Time Series Analysis; and distributed system design.
        • The annual base salary for this position is $225,000 to $225,000. Our compensation and benefits package includes substantial variable compensation in the form of a year-end bonus, guaranteed in the first year of hire, a sign-on bonus, a relocation bonus, and benefits including medical and prescription drug coverage, 401(k) contribution matching, wellness reimbursement, family building benefits, and a charitable gift match program.
