        Food Services Associate (6-Month LTA)

        The D. E. Shaw group seeks a detail-oriented and hospitality-focused individual to join its Administration team as a food services associate for a six-month assignment. The Administration team plays a key part in delivering exceptional client service and ensuring a welcoming experience for staff and visitors. This role offers the opportunity to support the firm’s catering and reception operations, working closely with a talented team in a collaborative and dynamic environment. A high performer in this role may have the opportunity to be considered for full-time employment at the firm.

        What you’ll do day-to-day

        • Support the firm’s catering operations by placing orders, fielding and executing catering requests from internal stakeholders, and coordinating with onsite facilities management contractors for room food setups.
        • Work closely with the firm’s onsite food services vendor and their contractors to ensure seamless event execution.
        • Assist with hands-on room setup and provide ad-hoc support to the reception team to help manage external visitor flow during periods of high volume.
        • Maintain a high standard of discretion and professionalism while delivering excellent client service.

        Who we’re looking for

        • At least one year of relevant experience and a background in corporate food services, catering, restaurants, or reception are preferred.
        • Exceptional client service, hospitality, and communication skills.
        • Ability to exercise discretion and handle confidential information with care.
        • Excellent organizational skills and a willingness to take initiative in both independent and team settings.
        • Experience coordinating with vendors and facilities management contractors is a plus; familiarity with room setup and event logistics is beneficial.
        • The expected annual base salary for this position is $70,000 to $80,000. Our compensation and benefits package includes overtime for all hours worked over 40 per week and benefits including medical and prescription drug coverage, 401(k) contribution matching, wellness reimbursement, family building benefits, and a charitable gift match program.
