        D-Tech Quantitative Analyst

        Join our D-Tech Team in New York. The D. E. Shaw group seeks talented D-Tech Quantitative Analysts to join its D-Tech team. This team applies mathematical techniques and writes software to develop, analyze, and implement statistical models for our computerized financial trading strategies. They utilize their creativity and innovation to create novel approaches to trade profitably in markets around the globe at a firm that offers an inclusive, collaborative, and engaging working environment.

        What you’ll do day-to-day

        You’ll develop and maintain systematic forecasting models for the firm’s credit-related computational trading strategies using advanced statistical, quantitative, and econometric techniques. You’ll analyze and develop computer-based models for forecasting security returns, including both exchange-traded and over-the-counter bond, equity, and derivative instruments. You’ll also build quantitative models to statistically test and validate hypotheses through rigorous in-sample and out-sample testing. You’ll construct mathematical models to forecast returns, smooth and filter noisy input data, and optimize statistical predictive power. You’ll also develop related infrastructure and analytical software in Python and various other computer languages. You’ll write production code upon completion of forecasting models to trade strategy within systematic trading infrastructure. You’ll optimize execution strategies, analyze model performance, and control risk. You’ll obtain, evaluate, and process software and data from external vendors.

        Who we’re looking for

        • Candidates must have a Doctor of Philosophy degree in mathematics, physics, financial engineering or a related quantitative field of study.
        • Knowledge or experience in the following must have been gained through academic research and/or coursework: building and interpreting statistical models; linear algebra, calculus, and probability theory; using data analysis tools to visualize and present research results; Python; and computer science and algorithms.
        • The annual salary for this position is $250,000 - $250,000. Our compensation and benefits package includes substantial variable compensation in the form of a year-end bonus, guaranteed in the first year of hire, a sign-on bonus, and benefits including medical and prescription drug coverage, 401k contribution matching, wellness reimbursement, family building benefits, and a charitable gift match program.
