D. E. Shaw Renewable Investments (“DESRI”) is seeking a talented and highly motivated individual to join its team as a senior permitting manager. DESRI is a market-leading owner and operator of renewable energy projects throughout the United States. We have acquired or developed approximately 10 gigawatts of contracted capacity across a portfolio of over 70 renewable energy projects in 24 states. This role will lead engagement on permitting projects across DESRI’s portfolio in an inclusive, collaborative, and engaging working environment. This individual can work remotely or be based out of our Denver or New York offices.
What you’ll do day-to-day
You’ll lead and consult on permitting matters across DESRI’s development portfolio, including providing expert environmental support; ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations; and supporting due diligence efforts related to environmental permitting, siting, and approvals. You’ll collaborate with and advise the team on a wide array of environmental topics. You’ll also help drive initiatives around environmental assessments (including Section 7 and Section 106 consultations), local discretionary permits, and state siting approvals. You’ll work closely with external consultants to ensure permitting strategies are carried out on a timeline that meets project objectives and financial goals. You’ll be responsible for assessing and communicating environmental risks, sharing your subject matter expertise with internal and external decision makers, and ensuring cost-effective solutions.
