The D. E. Shaw group offers opportunities for individuals of all backgrounds and levels of experience who display evidence of outstanding ability and have a track record of exceptional accomplishment. We hire gifted mathematicians and computer scientists as well as extraordinary generalists with liberal arts or other non-technical backgrounds. (Some of the firm's managing directors hold degrees in fields as disparate as English, psychology, and Russian studies.) Many of our employees have little knowledge of finance when they join the firm, but all share uncommon intelligence, analytical ability, and drive.
